Skinning in general - any advice?
Published on April 7, 2007 By REDstyler In Skinning
Hi All,

Was just wondering - I would like to make a skin sometime in the future, maybe I'll start with VS, could you guys give me any common advice on skinning in general. I don't want to make a stuff up.

Any advice would be great - though I do know of this one: "Dont Rush - take it slowly".

Thanks
Mike

Thanks, that sort of stuff helps!

Are there any common errors that one makes in a skin. Are there any technical issues that could occur when applying the skin on a different PC?

In fact don't worry about that question. Instead, do you guys have any good snaps to show me - just to get an idea of what's common between all of you.

P.S. I have already seen the April Shots in the forum.

Thanks

a recent one that people spoke about was the difference between desktops and laptops...some laptops are on domains and have an undock button in the logoff area.

If you dont want to hear the whining, make sure your logoff image has enough space for a 3rd button to the left of the logoff one

If you really just started to skin... My honest advice is to try out those simple to skin application like SysMetrix, Xion player, Rainlendar. Try out and see what your capabilities. WindowBlinds or VS skin could sometimes kill the interest since it really will take a lot of you to get it done properly. If you read thru these forums you could realise that a lot of ppls in here just did not get the energy to finished what they started.

And never get discaurage by negative comments from the crowd once you post your work in here or anywhere else...

And good luck...
